The Hitchcock's Challenge was started in 1994 by Florida Hall of Fame Coach Rick Swain. Swain created a format that included the best teams from North Florida and South Florida. As the tournament continued to grow, it became one of the best 8 team tournaments in the State of Florida. In 2012, the tournament was expanded to its current format of a 16 team tournament. This has made for some great matchups and exciting games in the past 8 years.
This Christmas tournament has become a tradition not only in Alachua County but around the state. The Hitchcock's Challenge boasts 25 years of exceptional teams and talent. We are proud that have had state champions and NBA players to grace our floor. Past players include Kevarius Hayes (UofF), Cornelius Ingram(NFL), James Shuler, Jamari Wheeler (Penn State), Corey Walden (NBA), and too many other players to mention.
We believe that this year will be no different. With 2021 State Finalist Santa Fe High being the host school, excellence is a staple for our tournament. When you visit our tournament, remember to support the businesses that help to make this possible, especially Hitchcock's Markets. This tournament would not be possible without our community as well as our community partners.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
